A: On average, you should replace your PRV every four to five years. However, how often you should replace water pressure regulators can depend on a few factors. For example, your PRV usage can influence how often you need a pressure regulator valve replacement.

A: Avoid operating the valve too close to the set point. Doing this can cause simmer and leakage.
Avoid testing your valve too often. Lifting the test lever too often can allow dirt or other foreign matter to get into the seat, which can cause the valve to leak.

A: It is important to physically inspect your valve(s) at least every 12 weeks or so. This inspection is really to check for any leaks in the tubing, check pressure gauges to ensure the valve is actually doing what it is supposed to and generally inspecting for anything that just looks abnormal.

A: Ensure that the valve chosen offers consistent control across various temperatures. Also, they meet equal or linear percentage or several other characteristics. Understand that these flow characteristics will vary across different processes, and the valve must be able to assure stability across all conditions.
