Rexroth A10FM 37 Axial Piston Motor

36.7 cm³/rev · 4200 rpm · 163 Nm · the frame where the shaft group grows up
71.8 kW
at 280 bar
154 L/min
at 4200 rpm

The step from 28 to 37 is not about speed

Top speed actually drops when you move up a frame - 4700 becomes 4200 rpm. What grows is the shaft group: torsional rigidity of the R shaft climbs by roughly two thirds, and the permissible bearing loads rise with it. The table shows both sides of the trade.

Property NG 28 NG 37 Change
Displacement 28.5 cm³ 36.7 cm³ +29 %

Output power 62.5 kW 71.8 kW +15 %
Shaft rigidity, R shaft 28478 Nm/rad 46859 Nm/rad +65 %
Permissible axial force 1000 N 1500 N +50 %
Permissible radial force 1200 N 1500 N +25 %
Case volume / mass 0.6 L / 12 kg 0.7 L / 17 kg +42 % mass

Both columns from the same data sheet, at 280 bar nominal pressure and full displacement. Theoretical values without efficiency.

Six things that matter on this frame

Stiffer shaft, calmer drive train
46859 Nm/rad with the R shaft and 46546 Nm/rad with the tapered C shaft - noticeably less wind-up than the two smaller frames.
Bearings sized for sideload
1500 N in both directions, useful where a belt, gear or cardan shaft pulls sideways on the shaft end.
W shaft now a standard release
From NG 37 upwards the reduced-torque splined shaft is listed as available, not as an on-request item as on the smaller frames.
Better break-away torque
About 125 Nm at standstill against 163 Nm of running torque - enough for drives that start under load.
Proven A10 rotary group
Swashplate kinematics, quiet running, and long service life at medium pressure.
Instrumentation optional
Speed sensing can be prepared or fitted - DSA1/20, DSA2/20 or DST - alongside the flushing and boost-pressure valve.

Specifying a 37, in four moves

1
Decide the rotation: R, L or W seen from the shaft end.
2
Pick the shaft: R, W or C, then check the load limits against the drive train.
3
Choose the ports: ISO 6162 flange with metric or UNC fastening, or threaded to DIN 3852-1 / ISO 11926.
4
Add the valve and sensor options, then state the quantity and target date.

Questions about the 37

What does the stiffer shaft group actually buy?
Less torsional deflection under changing load, and a higher ceiling on radial and axial force. On long drive shafts or reversing duties it is often the reason to move up from 28 rather than the torque figure.
Is the W shaft available?
Yes - from NG 37 up, the reduced-torque splined shaft is a released option. On NG 23 and NG 28 the same shaft is listed only as an on-request item.
How much more flow does the pump have to deliver?
Twenty litres a minute more than for a 28 at each motor's own top speed - 154 against 134 L/min. If the pump is fixed, the 37 simply runs slower, and speed scales linearly with the flow being supplied.
Quote the A10FM 37
Rotation, shaft end, port style, valve and sensor options plus quantity are all we need to come back with a confirmed designation and price.
